A310 Backed Stool — Elm & Aerospace Provenance
A seat with altitude and attitude. This backed stool is a symphony of reclaimed aviation engineering, reimagined into a sculptural perch that honours flight, craft, and legacy.
Its foundation begins with the brake disc of an Airbus A310 — once tasked with grounding tonnes of airborne steel, now anchoring a piece of functional art. Rising from this is a helicopter landing gear component, a nod to vertical lift and precision mechanics. The central screw section is a screw jack salvaged from a BAE146 aircraft, its industrial threads now serving as a visual spine and structural core.
Footrests are formed from helicopter special tools — tactile, purposeful, and rich with the patina of service. The backrest, a pylon cover from an Airbus A320, curves gently to support and intrigue, while the seat itself is crafted from warm, characterful elm wood: a grounding contrast to the cool metallic history beneath.
Each element tells a story of movement, purpose, and transformation — from sky to studio, from machinery to memory.
At DappR we pride ourselves on helping the environment by reducing the amount of waste we create as well as helping the local businesses. We use locally sourced wood in order to help reduce our carbon footprint, as well as, working with aviation suppliers across the UK to help reduce the amount of aviation that is left behind in wastelands and oceans across the globe.
